The pilot was attempting a normal landing in an 8-knot right crosswind that was gusting to 14 knots. During the landing the airplane departed the left side of the runway and came to rest near a berm. The impact resulted in substantial damage to the fuselage. The pilot reported that there were no preimpact mechanical malfunctions or failures of the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
NTSB Probable Cause
The pilot’s failure to compensate for gusty crosswind conditions during the landing roll, which resulted in a loss of control and subsequent runway excursion.
